Split an image into rows and columns or fixed-size tiles, preview the numbered sections and download a ZIP locally.

Unlimited Free Usage

Tiles are numbered left to right, then top to bottom. Grid boundaries cover every pixel exactly once. Edge tiles in pixel-size mode may be smaller. Export includes every tile in one ZIP.

Frequently asked questions

Are my files uploaded?

No. Source files, filenames, previews and output stay on your device. Helphonic serves the page and local processing libraries and checks access using non-content usage metadata.

Is this tool free?

This tool starts with unlimited free operations for guests, registered users and active paid users. Administrators can configure allowances later. Current access details appear on the page, and device safety limits still apply.

Will this work on every browser?

Use a current browser with JavaScript, canvas and worker support. HEIC conversion and GIF editing also need WebAssembly and enough memory for a local decoder. Video codec support varies by browser; smaller files work better on phones.

What limits apply?

One source image up to 10 MB, 16 MP and 16,000 pixels per side; up to 100 tiles; 60 MB combined output.

How to use

Image Splitter

Learn how to use Image Splitter: step-by-step instructions, settings, export options, privacy, limits and troubleshooting.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP image.
  2. Select Rows and columns or Tile size in pixels.
  3. Enter the grid counts or tile dimensions and check the numbered preview.
  4. Choose PNG or JPG and adjust JPEG quality if needed.
  5. Click Export numbered tiles and download the ZIP.
Grid boundaries and tile order

Tiles are numbered left to right and then top to bottom. Row-and-column mode divides the entire image without gaps or overlapping pixels; unequal dimensions can make adjacent tiles differ by one pixel.

Pixel-size mode keeps your requested width and height for interior tiles. Tiles touching the right or bottom edge may be smaller. At least one pixel is required per tile, and the total is limited to 100.

Output appearance and source formats

PNG preserves transparent pixels. JPEG flattens transparent pixels onto white and introduces lossy compression. The tool exports still raster tiles and does not expand animation frames from animated sources.

Splitting uses the decoded, orientation-corrected image. Camera metadata is not copied into tiles. All processing, previewing and ZIP creation take place in your browser.

Processing and privacy

Files and entered content are processed on your device in this browser tab. File contents and results are not uploaded to Helphonic or sent to analytics. The page still contacts Helphonic to load its tools, check access and confirm non-content usage information. Work is not saved to your account; download or copy results before leaving or reloading the page.

If an operation cannot finish

Use a current browser and smaller inputs if the tab runs out of memory. Some tools download a local processing library or model on first use, so an internet connection is needed even though your content stays on the device.

If the tool reports that access or limits changed, review the current policy and run it again. If usage confirmation is uncertain after an interrupted connection, a retry can count as another operation. Download completed work before reloading; this site does not keep a recovery copy.

About this tool

Choose a still JPG, PNG or WebP image, then select a row-and-column grid or tile dimensions in pixels. Preview the numbered cuts and export every tile as PNG or JPG in one ZIP.
