HEIC to JPG / PNG

Convert HEIC and HEIF photos to JPG or PNG in your browser, including every still picture in supported multi-picture files.

Unlimited Free Usage

Convert every still picture in each HEIC/HEIF file. Batch results are delivered in a numbered ZIP. Image sequences and Live Photo video tracks are not supported. The local decoder downloads once when needed.

PNG preserves transparency; JPEG uses a white background. Exports are ordinary 8-bit images; HDR, depth maps, camera metadata and Live Photo motion are not retained.

Frequently asked questions

Are my files uploaded?

No. Source files, filenames, previews and output stay on your device. Helphonic serves the page and local processing libraries and checks access using non-content usage metadata.

Is this tool free?

This tool starts with unlimited free operations for guests, registered users and active paid users. Administrators can configure allowances later. Current access details appear on the page, and device safety limits still apply.

Will this work on every browser?

Use a current browser with JavaScript, canvas and worker support. HEIC conversion and GIF editing also need WebAssembly and enough memory for a local decoder. Video codec support varies by browser; smaller files work better on phones.

What limits apply?

Up to 5 files, 10 MB each, 24 MB combined; 8 pictures per file; 16 MP and 4096 px per side per picture; 32 MP across the batch. Still images only.

How to use

HEIC to JPG / PNG

Learn how to use HEIC to JPG / PNG: step-by-step instructions, settings, export options, privacy, limits and troubleshooting.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Choose up to five HEIC or HEIF files and wait for local inspection.
  2. Check the number of still pictures detected in the batch.
  3. Choose JPG or PNG and, for JPG, set the quality percentage.
  4. Click Convert HEIC images and wait for local conversion.
  5. Download the image or numbered ZIP before leaving the page.
Picture preservation and format support

Every top-level still picture returned by the HEIC decoder is exported; multi-picture inputs are never silently reduced to the first image. Thumbnails and auxiliary depth or gain-map data are not separate exported photos. HEIF sequences, AVIF and Live Photo video tracks are not supported.

JPEG is useful for smaller photo files and uses a white background for transparent pixels. PNG preserves transparency. Converted files are ordinary 8-bit images; HDR appearance may change, and camera metadata is removed. JPEG quality changes compression, while PNG ignores the JPEG quality control.

Local decoding and device limits

An approximately 15 MB self-hosted WebAssembly decoder is loaded when needed. Decoding runs in a worker with a timeout, memory limits and cancellation. Source dimensions and picture counts are checked before full raster decoding.

Each file is limited to 10 MB and eight pictures. Each picture is limited to 16 megapixels and 4096 pixels per side; the entire selected batch is limited to 32 million picture pixels. The combined compressed input limit is 24 MB. Smaller batches work better on phones.

Processing and privacy

Files and entered content are processed on your device in this browser tab. File contents and results are not uploaded to Helphonic or sent to analytics. The page still contacts Helphonic to load its tools, check access and confirm non-content usage information. Work is not saved to your account; download or copy results before leaving or reloading the page.

If an operation cannot finish

Use a current browser and smaller inputs if the tab runs out of memory. Some tools download a local processing library or model on first use, so an internet connection is needed even though your content stays on the device.

If the tool reports that access or limits changed, review the current policy and run it again. If usage confirmation is uncertain after an interrupted connection, a retry can count as another operation. Download completed work before reloading; this site does not keep a recovery copy.

About this tool

Choose up to five HEIC or HEIF files. Inspect their picture count, choose JPEG quality or PNG, and convert all supported still pictures locally. Multiple pictures are numbered and packaged in a ZIP.
